what have the done to her by phalo what have the done to her by phalo
sorry my scanner cut off a bit of it
this has to do with the devastating disaster that bp has caused in the gulf
-mother nature hooked up to mechanical things, the pipe broken and her oil gushing out, no clothing because she is being stripped of her resources
im hoping to do a painting of this some time
please send me your feedback :)

Brilliant idea, I love her tree-like legs and arms. And the oil spill looks pretty creepy.

It's an interesting imagining of what's happened with that oil spill. Although, without your commentary I wouldn't have been too sure about what this is or if there was a message.

As for the other bits of symbolism you mention, I understand what you're saying. Only, I never imagined any image of mother nature with any kind of clothing. The broken pipelines have a direct meaning, and the abusive nature of things related to past events is also clear. Analyzing the meaning, it's not just a matter of greed, or abuse, but carelessness and greed. In this case it wasn't just that it was being taken, but that it was done so in a reckless manner. Sometimes it's not always the greed or abuse, but the total disregard for consequences. There are so many of us, it's hard not to take what we already do. I'm throwing my point of view at this, but I see what you mean. It's just that in this case, it's the consequences of another error caused by other people.

Her crude restraints are an interesting way to make a statement though. To me at least. Good to see you're trying to put your thoughts on paper like this.
